With the Advanced Security or Business Professional plans, desktop Office app licenses are tied to an individual’s account, including their login information and password. Employees could access your documents if they downloaded a copy.

What are the chances of my Excel, PowerPoint, and Word programs working with my cloud storage and Office Online?

Instead of Office Online, you can edit files stored in the cloud using your desktop applications with OneDrive for Business Professional and Office Online with Microsoft 365’s latest version. Microsoft 365’s latest version works best with these versions of Office apps. To edit a document, click ‘Edit in Word/Excel/PowerPoint’, then click ‘Save’ in those applications to return it to your storage. Does my computer work with the latest Office apps?

To use the desktop downloads in Advanced Security or Business Professional, your PC needs Windows 11/10/8.1 or Windows Server 2019/2016. Mac users need the current macOS and the previous two versions. For other operating systems, use Office Online, with browser-based versions of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint included in Online Business Essentials and Business Professional plans.
